Our focus is to provide our clients with sound legal counsel throughout the course of their business and personal lives. We believe that the key to providing the best legal representation possible lies in building relationships with our clients, getting to know them, their businesses and their goals. We do everything we can to provide our clients with superior advice, responsive representation and practical, creative and cost-effective solutions for the challenges that they face.

Our depth of experience in a broad spectrum of legal practice areas enables us to assemble legal teams with varied backgrounds in order to meet the needs of our clients. Internally, we have two departments, corporate and litigation. Externally, we are organized into a number of practice groups focusing on various industries and legal practice areas. We invite you to review these practice groups and the attorneys that comprise them. We are large enough to develop concentrations in various areas of law, and yet we are small enough to maintain personal contact and relationships with our clients.

In order to meet the needs of our clients, we have four regional offices located throughout Northern New England in Manchester, Concord, and Newport, New Hampshire and Andover, Massachusetts. These offices allow us to be where our clients need us to be, and yet are close enough for us to bring legal expertise from one office to another in order to meet a client's needs. The combination of our convenient locations and wide range of experience allows us to provide big city representation without the big city.

Initially established in 1947 by Maurice Devine and Joseph Millimet, we have grown to more than 200 employees including 80+ lawyers from over 30 law schools around the country. They are at Devine Millimet by choice, not by chance.

The firm expanded its presence past the New Hampshire borders into Massachusetts in 1996 by merging with the long standing Andover firm of Asoian, Tully & Gilman. The Asoian firm had served the business community of Northern Massachusetts since 1974. The merger has provided clients on both sides of the border with access to additional legal resources, and a true, regional alternative.

We have a long history of producing lawyers who have made a difference. Many of our lawyers have been appointed to trial and appellate judgeships at the state and federal levels and one former partner has gone on to become the Governor of New Hampshire. In addition, five of our attorneys have served as President of the New Hampshire Bar Association. We encourage our lawyers to be involved in our communities, the political process and professional associations.

Our clients come to us for advice. Often they have a problem that needs a solution. Our approach is to listen first and then find solutions. As we listen, we define the client's objectives, risk tolerance and the potential impact of solutions on other aspects of the client's business or life. We approach the issues with the assumption that a solution exists and that we will find it. In order to position ourselves to solve problems, we are continually growing as well as expanding our knowledge, experience and technology.

In molding solutions, we have found that answers lie outside of typical legal concepts. Our business savvy, community involvement and work with the executive branch, legislature and various government agencies allow us to pursue a range of solutions beyond simple lawyering.
